Christmas Already??

Wow this year has just flown by. I can’t believe that Christmas is almost here! The last few months I have been busy getting our house ready to sell! Now that I am done painting, cleaning and all that goes with getting ready to sell a home I can finally get to what I love most. You guessed it Crochet!!

Okay I have got to be honest I did find some time while I was watching TV to get some crocheting done. Here is what I have finished.

I am not real sure I am happy with the way this one turned out. I am thinking that I will have to do some more experimenting with this type of yarn. Which is Bernat Boa!

I love this yarn which is Bernat Soft Boucle. The way it works up is so nice and soft. This yarn also works up real fast. This scarf will definitely keep you warm on a cold winters day!

Are you all ready for Christmas? Do you have all the decorations and the tree put up, the gifts all bought and wrapped?

Here is a cute Santa Hat to make for the little ones! Click on the image to get the pattern.

Men and Crochet

I have often wondered how many Men do Crochet! I do know that I had a houseful of boys that grew into Men and not one of them Crochet now! When they were young and when I was crocheting they wanted to learn how. I then taught them how to crochet and they actually made friendship bracelets but¬†that was¬†as far as they took the crocheting. ¬†Now they say hey Mom I like this could you make it for me!! ūüôā

I have done some research on Men Crocheting and it seems that there a few of them that enjoy this craft.  The Crochet Dude  is known in crochet circles and here is another guy that blogs from my home state WI about crocheting among other things Real Men Crochet and other things.

When searching for patterns for Men I find mainly hats, afghans, scarves, some sweaters and vests. I have 3 boys and was looking for some sweater patterns to make for gifts. In my research I was just not coming across anything that I knew they would wear.  This is why I decided to start designing items for Men.  I have always loved to make things for my family and give them as gifts but there is only so many hats and afghans that they can use!

I love to use Pinterest for inspiration on Men’s Fashion. There are so many ideas that you can use for inspiration and for patterns. I was trying to see how many different things that I could find for Men that have been Crocheted.

These were some of the pictures that I ran across while researching for Crochet for Men.  Both Vests are made from Granny Squares.

My middle son is pictured wearing the hooded sweater and has helped me quite a bit with items to create. He will see something and he will say¬†“Mom” could you by chance be able to make this? This is where the idea came from for the Fedora style hat and the Tie.

Crochet Men’s Hooded Sweater Part I

As this Friday draws to a close and evening approaches I thought I would bring you along with me on what happens when I make a Sweater!

DSC09946

Here are my tools of the trade. Well some of them anyway. ¬†My tablet is full of patterns that I have written down in a language that only I can understand! ūüôā ¬†I have come up with my own form of shorthand. ¬†Anyone else would look at it and wonder how on earth you were suppose to follow any of this! lol

This is part of the pattern process that I use. This is where I figure out what I want for a stitch and what size the sweater is going to be.  You can see it does remind you of a sewing pattern.

Here I have the Front of the Sweater finished. It does take me a while to finish each piece for this sweater. The making of this Sweater from start to finish takes me approx 25 hrs for a size Med. It does depend on the size of the Sweater as to how long it takes me to finish it. I love being able to try out different colors and stitches to see what I like or I think someone else might like. It is amazing and fun when you start to play around with colors and you find out what ones blend well together. You sure can come up with some crazy combinations!

At the moment I am in the process of making the sleeves so you will have to stay tuned to find out what they are going to look like and what happens next! ¬†Thanks for taking a look and hope you tune in for the next part! ūüôā
